ABOUT RLM
WHO WE ARE
Resurrection Life Worship Center exists to fervently pursue the arrangements of opportunities for God and man to meet by passionately loving Him and loving people.
The joy of receiving life is only surpassed by the joy of giving life.
If you are new to Resurrection Life we are a body of believers that are in love with God and we love people. God birthed the church in 1989 with founding Pastors James and Tish Hickman. We are a vibrant, and enthusiastic church. A church that is full of life, believing that Jesus came to give us a life on this earth that is abundant.
We have many ministries that meet the needs of the whole family; spirit, soul, and body. We are a whole ministry for the whole family. Resurrection Life Church is a dynamic, inter-denominational church located in Pearl River County. There are a full-range of ministries for the entire family.
Not only are there ministries to minister to you but opportunities for you to give your life away.
One of our core values of Resurrection Life is about the life that you can give not just about receiving all the time. "Receiving life is only surpassed by the joy of giving life."
As you click your way through this website, we hope you'll gain a better understanding of who we are, what we offer, and what the future holds.
Please join us for worship on Sunday mornings at 8:30 am and 10:30am. Come early and have a cappuccino and pastry in the Java Cafe' and fellowship with others. We offer services that feature upbeat, contemporary and intimate worship, heart-touching dramas, and life changing and relevant messages by our Pastors.
OUR STORY
Every person has a story because we are living out the life God has called us to. We want a story that will always bring glory and honor to God.
Humble Beginnings
In 1988 it was birthed in the heart of a man of God to love people who had been beaten, battered, and bruised by the world and by the institutionalized Church. It was out of that heart that Resurrection Life Ministries was started. Founding Pastor James Hickman or, "Papa" as he was affectionately known to many for years, was a gentle giant. His heart for Picayune was not only evident to RLM but to the whole community. It was in 1989 that eleven people began meeting in "Papa" and "Tishy's" (Jame's wife) living room, praying, worshiping, and studying the scriptures.
Yesterday...
In 2000 Pastor James Hickman stepped down and turned the leadership role over to his youngest son, Allen Hickman. Pastor Allen was with his dad at the inception of RLM and still serves the people of RLM and our city faithfully and passionately as Lead Pastor. Under the leadership of Pastor Allen, the church has grown to well over 1500 people meeting in weekly services at two campuses. Throughout its history, RLM has reached out to the city and community in many ways. From our free medical clinic started back in 2005 in the midst of the wake of Hurricane Katrina to serving as a community leader in sports, the school system, and much more.
Today...
As of today we are meeting in a 37,000 square foot renovated store front. Approximately 1,500 people meet for worship in two services each Sunday, and youth and children's ministry meet during the week on Wednesdays. Lifegroups are our small group ministry that meet weekly, everything from kids praise groups to motorcycle groups to Swedish Weaving or Leadership 101. This is where people truly connect and live out the true mission of the church.
Tomorrow...
We are seeing growth in all areas of the church, from the children's ministry to lifegroups. Our mission to love God and love people is not even close to being fulfilled. As long as there are people, we will continue to reach out and minister the love of Jesus. Part of that vision is leaving a legacy. We have finished a Prayer Building on our property on South Haugh Street and are using it on a daily basis for intercessory prayer, worship, individual prayer stations, corporate prayer, prayer rooms, healing rooms, and much more.
We are now in the development stage of a "NEW HOME". We have over 50 acres on South Haugh Street in the Picayune city limits that we are in the process of developing a master plan for the acreage. The dream is to have a 1,500 seat main auditorium with children's and youth ministry space, a sports complex, and retirement housing.
