Life and death are in the power of the tongue. We have the ability to receive from words that are spoken over us, and the enemy knows the power behind that ability. He used Goliath to keep Saul's army in fear. They focused on Goliath's size and intimidating presence and compared it to themselves. David, however, confessed the true comparison when he spoke, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?" His focus was on the power of the God of Israel and he did not receive the words from the enemy that were meant to put the nation in bondage.
