  • This Week: For God and Country
  • Last week:Worthy is the Lamb

Roger Helle, from Teen Challenge of the Mid-South in Chattanooga, TN, will be pouring into our lives this morning.
Helle joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam, was wounded three
times, and was decorated a number of times for bravery. Helle experienced 27 operations on his body and four
plastic surgery operations on his face. After years of experiencing nightmares of Vietnam and survivors guilt,
Helle and his wife Shirley surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ in 1974. Roger and Shirley have been in full time ministry since 1978. In 1989, Roger returned to the country of Viet Nam with a group of Christian veterans working with the ministry, “Vets With a Mission.” This group has rebuilt orphanages, clinics and hospitals and shipped millions of dollars of donated medical supplies to Vietnam. Helle has spoken across the country in various churches, schools, colleges and civic groups. He has spoken at the National
War College and to a group at the Pentagon.

Worthy is the lamb is more than a nice religious statement.  It is about living a life that is worthy of the sacrifice that Jesus bought and paid for.  Our peace, liberty, hope and all the privileges and promises that come when we give our lives to Jesus have already been afforded to us through His death, burial and resurrection.  However, most Christians live as though we have to do something to earn those things.  But we don’t.  The Father simply wants us to live the life that Jesus has purchased for us so that all the glory and praise will go to the lamb.  The Father simply desires Jesus to get all that He is worthy of.
